Protein Donuts- Cake Batter & Chocolate Chocolate
My inspiration for this recipe was because my husband Brandon challenged me that I couldn't make a healthy dessert that tasted good. Challenge accepted. Guess who won? ME! Brandon's exact words after his first bite of the cake batter donut was, there is no way that this is healthy! SCORE FOR ME! These are healthy and they are so good! Granted, all things are good in moderation! I say that they are healthy, because they are made with healthy ingredients and sweeteners, but if you eat the whole batch in one sitting, it probably won't be healthy anymore! So enjoy these one at a time, or two, but don't over do it! So good you can't believe it's not a normal donut! Make it with me!
I had to do two donut recipes, because my husband and I like different tastes. I love a chocolatey, dense donut, and he likes more of a flaky, light, cake batter flavor. Both these recipes were developed with flavor first in mind! I used all ingredients that taste good, while they are good for you!
You can see on each recipe that it calls for flour. You can use any flour that you like the best. Just note, that will change the macros a little bit in each recipe! I used all purpose flour in both, because that is what I had on hand. I generated the macros for each recipe using my fitness pal, its an app! You can do the same if you use a different flour or any different ingredients than me!
The frosting recipe is the exact same for each flavor! The only difference is the difference of protein powder flavor! My favorite protein powder is the Beverely International UMP protein! You've probably heard me talk about this protein powder time and time again, but it really does taste the best! You can use any protein powder you like, but it will change the flavor a little bit! If you need to shop for protein powder, I will put my amazon affiliate link below where you can buy some yourself! I know the chocolate protein looks lumpy and unappetizing in pictures. If you really want to work the cream cheese, you can get it smooth! I am not a perfectionist, so therefore my frosting isn't perfect! Whip it until you reach a consistency you like!
